It looks like Mom and Dad made special plans to have their portrait made....but...according to mom; they were in California, where dad was in OCS and before he went to Alaska, walking on the street (maybe in Hollywood, she can't recall) ...just taking a walk, they passed a photo studio and Mom suggested they go in and have this picture taken...which they did. Pretty nice walking cloths...but then the folks were always nice dressers.

Mother has written on back: "Grandma Kelley (left) Aunt Jane Adams".
The story begins in Great Britain (England, Ireland, etc...) in the 1600's with the Pelton's,
and the Kelley's. All from different places but destined, in time to join up. We know they
were married together in either Haddam, Connecticut or Ashtabula County in Ohio in the 1830's.
Where they were before that is sort of a mystery. We have a little treatise on
the history of the Pelton Family which was published in 1892; no real evedence of our immediate
family story, but kind of interesting.
In the Summer of 1994, mother sat down to write a little history of her family as she remembered it.
That story is transcribed here, exactly as she wrote it then. I have attempted to "illustrate" this
where appropriate. Any new information we have since
discovered may be inserted later. Now remember, this account was given to Mark Foster. References to
his grand-parents, etc... would be the same for John, Linda, Kathy and Tom...obviously she is not
"Aunt June" to us. Another note, anything in italics is to be consedered a whisper from me to you.
Well, you get the idea. If you want a copy
of the full text, I can send you one.
