Okay, Tom, let's begin again.

Here are some chronologies that I think pin down your Frederick Oliver Teeple as a son of
Frederick Teeple and Margaret McCallum. If you see something that's not right, by all means
tell me. Here am I, busy telling YOU, and what if I'M all wrong!

hunt's luck,

Anne

----------------------------

1. In 1860, there's your Fred underlined, aged 5, with his father Frederick and his mother
Margaret and all his siblings. Also there's his uncle James Teeple and his family.

# On 16 June, 1860, Frederick Teeple , born Canada, was 65 and living with wife Margaret,
age 40 in Clyde Twp St., Clair Co MI with children William 20 labourer born Canada, Pelham
18 labourer born Canada, Hiram? 12 born Canada, (all the rest born MI) Henry 10, Malcolm 9,
Mary Ann 7, Fred Jr. 5, Cath 4, Gilbert 1. The next family listed was James 32, cooper,
Fidelia 29, born NY, Charles 4, and Emma 2.

2. Now, in 1870, your Fred is 10 years older, listed by his second name, Oliver, age 14.
His father is now born NB which translates into New Brunswick. His mother Margaret has
died.

# In 1870, Frederick Teeple, born in NB, was 75 years old and living with Hiram 21, Henry
20, Malcolm 18, Mary 16, Oliver 14, Catherine 12, Gilbert 10. In the same house were James
Teeple age 40 born in Canada, Fidelia 38, Charles 14, Emmer 12, Carrie 2, Ellen 1.

-----------------------------

3. In 1877, Frederick Oliver's father, Frederick has died and his probate papers of 1879
list F.O. as Oliver. He is now 8 years older, 21 years old.

# In Frederick's probate file, there are listed all his children and the grandchildren of
his deceased children: "Daughters Ellen Sutherland, age 52, Oswell [sic - Orwell], Elgin Co
Ontario, Mary Ann Doan, age 25 years, Clyde St. Clair Co Mich, Catherine Teeple, age 19
years, Clyde, St. Clair Co. Mich, Whelthey Warren, deceased; her children Marion Maria
Warren age 34 years, William Washington Warren 32 years (Chatham Post Office Ont) Wilber
Wellington, 30 years, and Walter Windom Warren age 28 years, Saginaw City Mich; Sons,

4. In 1900, Fred was 45. That is 23 years later than the probate records - and 45-23=22,
close enought to the age of Oliver in the probate. And his birth year of 1854 is a near
perfect match to the 1860 census age of 5 and the 1870 census age as 14 (Depending on
whether the census was taken before or after the birthdate, of course).

# In 1900, Fred was 45 years old born Jun 1854 MI, married 12 years, with Eliza J. 44
born Nov 1855, seven children born 6 alive, born Canada, both parents born Ireland, came
to US 1869, with Delila 12 born Jan 1888 MI, Earl 11 born Mar 1889, Cora 9 born Apr 1891,
Wallace 6 born Aug 1893, Wilson 5 born Sep 1894.

5. Now for a few items about Fred O's father, Frederick.

a. He was NOT born in the U.S.
# On 8 October, 1856, Frederick Teeple signed his intention to become a U.S. citizen.
source: Declaration of Intention, Michigan State Archives, Lansing MI, copy with Anne

b. I have a huge file of Frederick Teeple's land transactions in Clyde Twp, St. Clair Co MI
after 1856 when he settled for life in Michigan.

c. We've been working slowly on Margaret McCallum's family. We've found what seem to be
family members in Michigan, but none in Canada. The Scottish connexion is entirely possible,
but not yet proved.

d. For modern researchers, Frederick's life has been a challenge to uncover. Finding those
probate papers really allowed all sorts of possibilities to be either kept as fact or
discarded.
